General Information

Migraine is a disabling neurological disease with different symptoms and different treatment approaches compared to other headache disorders.

The symptoms of migraine vary from person to person, but some of the most common are:

  • Head pain that is moderate or severe and often intense.
  • Pain can cause a throbbing, pounding or pulsating sensation.
  • Head pain gets worse with physical activity or any movement.
  • Nausea and/or vomiting.
  • Sensitivity to light, noise and/or smells.
  • Head pain that is severe enough to make you miss your normal activities of daily living.

Migraine can be classified as episodic or chronic

  • Episodic - 14 or fewer headache days per month.
  • Chronic - more than 15 headache days per month (for 3 or more months), with at least 8 that include migraine features/symptoms.
